A grass and tree fire broke out at Rectory Park in Northolt, west London, on Monday afternoon, damaging around a hectare of land and prompting warnings for people to move away from the area.
The London Fire Brigade said grass and trees were damaged in the blaze, which sent flames and smoke spreading across the field. There were no reports of any injuries.
Local residents raised the alarm, with some warning people to get off the field as the wind risked whipping the fire up quickly. The brigade said it received 23 calls about the incident.
Nearby households were affected, with one local group reporting that around 35 homes were impacted and 19 residents evacuated as a precaution while fire crews worked to bring the blaze under control.
The incident is the latest in a summer of grass and wildland fires across the UK, as prolonged hot, dry weather has left parks and open spaces tinder-dry.
