Police have appealed for help to find a heavily pregnant woman who has been missing since Friday morning. Leicestershire Police said Charlie Ryan, 31, was last seen in the Groby Road area of Leicester near to the New Parks Way roundabout.
The force said officers are “extremely concerned” for her welfare and that active inquiries are continuing. Police said inquiries carried out so far have indicated she may be in the Northfields area of Leicester.
What police are asking people to look out for
Anyone who may have seen Charlie Ryan or knows where she may be is being asked to contact police. The woman is described as white, 165cm (5ft 5in), with bright blonde hair.
She was last seen wearing a black jacket, a grey jumper, black leggings and black shoes. Those specific details are the sort police rely on when asking the public to check CCTV footage, doorbell cameras and dashcam recordings along the likely route between the two areas identified.
Why it matters
Missing person appeals for heavily pregnant women are treated as a high-priority category across UK policing, because of the health risks to both the woman and the baby as time passes. Police forces routinely use appeals to national and regional media in these cases, and members of the public are often the ones who spot the person on doorbell footage.
The appeal also serves a practical purpose for anyone who sees Charlie Ryan: contacting police directly rather than approaching her, so that officers can verify her wellbeing and location without causing alarm.

What happens next
Leicestershire Police have asked anyone with information to contact the force, and the search is ongoing. Officers will continue to review CCTV and other footage from the Groby Road and Northfields areas as part of active inquiries.
If you see Charlie Ryan, or anyone who knows her current whereabouts, the force has asked that you get in touch promptly rather than waiting. The appeal remains open and the concern about her welfare is described as immediate.
