Drivers have been warned of delays after a vehicle fire closed a lane on a key A-road in South Wales.
The A30 was partly blocked after a vehicle caught fire, with a witness reporting smoke “blowing right across the carriageway” as fire crews attended the scene. Separately, the A470 southbound between Glyntaff and Taffs Well was affected by a vehicle fire causing delays on August 25, and the A48 near Pyle was partially closed after a vehicle fire on August 23.
Motorists were urged to avoid affected routes and expect slow traffic while recovery and fire crews worked to clear the incidents. In some cases one lane later reopened to allow traffic to pass.
Vehicle fires on busy A-roads can cause significant disruption at short notice, and recovery can take time where cables or debris block the carriageway.
